NEW ! Anti-Poverty Magazine - Special issue on European Elections

Here is the first issue of the Anti-Poverty Magazine, which replaces former EAPN’s magazine Network News. This 12-page publication will be issued three times a year. This first new issue is also a special one, on the European Elections, with contributions from the 5 main groups in the European Parliament. It also includes EAPN’s 10 demands to the new EP candidates, and some key information on the role and the importance of the European Parliament.

The 2010 European Year against Poverty will be all the more special for EAPN as it will mark the deadline the EU set itself to “make a decisive impact on the eradication of poverty” and EAPN’s 20th anniversary.

Migration is now the subject of growing political debate in many European countries. It is estimated that 2 million migrants arrive in Europe from other parts of the world each year. In EAPN we are specifically concerned to work with, and in solidarity with, migrants as part of the fight against poverty and social exclusion.

Everybody agrees that people should be able to heat their home but his is fast becoming a ‘luxury’ for many people experiencing poverty. With rising energy prices, the question of how to solve energy poverty is becoming a major challenge for the EU.
