Who we are

The way we are funded

Primarily EAPN is funded by a grant from the European Commission to support our running costs.

Our funding comes from the Progress Programme which exists “to support the implementation of the objectives of the European Union in the employment and social affairs area” and has as one of its objectives, “to boost the capacity of key EU networks to promote, support and further develop EU policies and objectives”.

This grant from the Commission covers approximately 87% of the core running costs for EAPN (Europe), the additional 13% coming from other sources, such as membership contributions and the co financing of EAPN (Europe) events, etc.  EAPN National Networks raise their own funds, independently of the funds available through the PROGRESS programme.

Our budget is spent on:

  • Bringing our members together for meetings to exchange experiences and share knowledge on national policies for social inclusion and the impact of EU policies on these national policies;
  • Capacity building for our members to engage with key EU processes;
  • The provision of information on relevant EU developments to a wide range of actors concerned with social and economic policies and to the general public;
  • Lobbying and campaigning for the integration of the fight against poverty and social exclusion into all EU policies.

Our accounts are audited by an independent auditor each year and are available in our annual report.
