Nearly 1 in 4 persons is in or at risk of poverty and/or social exclusion in the EU.

Member States must respect their commitments and allocate the necessary funds to the fight against poverty.

As concerned citizens, we call on Presidents and Prime Ministers of EU Member States to respect the commitment they made when agreeing the EU poverty−reduction target! We urge them to invest EU Money for poverty reduction now by:

• Allocating at least 25% of the Cohesion Policy budget to the European Social Fund (ESF)
• Earmarking at least 20% of the European Social Fund to poverty reduction and social inclusion.

Water and Sanitation are a human right! - Water is a public good, not a commodity

EAPN supports EPSU as one of the 5 official partners (with EPHA, EEB, Women in Europe for a common future) of the campaign calling for water and sanitation, which are human rights, to be guaranteed by the EU through the promotion of water supply and sanitation as essential public services for all and the implementation of these human rights. This campaign, which is also the very first European Citizens' initiative, aims at collecting 1 million signatures and calls for:

• Guaranteed water and sanitation for all in Europe. 
• No liberalisation of water services.
• Universal (Global) access to water and sanitation.
