On 07-08 June, EAPN took a very active part in the Alter Summit, which is a pan-European initiative, bringing together a wide range of major actors from different organizations, committed to a better, more democratic and more equal Europe, that puts people before profit.
{jathumbnail}From 18 till 20 June, on the Esplanade in front of the European Parliament in Brussels, EAPN held the 12th Meeting of People experiencing poverty on “What we can learn from the experiences of poverty today”. Gathering delegations of people experiencing poverty and activists from all the EU countries, this meeting was also an significant event in the calendar of the 2013 European Year of the Citizen. The event was open to the public.
30/05 – The European Commission has just released its Country-Specific Recommendations for each Member State, along with an overarching communication on “what is needed to return to growth and jobs“. EAPN national networks will publish an assessment of these CSRs. The main points are:

From 21st to 25th May 2013, in Laulasmaa, Estonia, EAPN held its first EAPN Learning Forum, together with its global partner Dignity International, a global anti-poverty organisation, bringing together partners from different continents of the world.
14/05 – Today is the last meeting of the working group on the Youth Guarantee in charge of handing out a report to the Prime Minister on its implementation starting next September. On that occasion, FNARS recalls that the measure cannot, alone, be an adequate response to the situation of young people.

28/05 – from 9:30 to 13:00 the EESC will organise a hearing on ‘European minimum income and poverty indicators’. The idea is to reflect on a better measurement of poverty and on the challenges of adopting a European minimum income scheme. The hearing will bring together experts and people involved in advocacy work to contribute to the EESC opinion. EAPN will provide an expert input on both elements.
