{jathumbnail}The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) held its major Biennale Conference in Florence on 20-22 May. To mark the 2010 Year Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion, the theme of the Conference was “Education to Combat Social Exclusion”.
Associations from several regions in France mobilize on 3 May for homeless people’s – and everyone’s – right to housing, against the degradation of reception conditions for asylum seekers. All organizations are called on to sign up the appeal by FNARS and take part on 3 May 2010. Read more on their website (in French).
Together with its regional networks and associations of people experiencing poverty, the Belgian Anti-Poverty Network (BAPN) addressed a letter to Belgian MEPS, in reaction to the latest developments on the Europe 2020 strategy. {jathumbnail}On the 27th April 2010, the Commission published their proposals for Integrated Guidelines to deliver on the EU strategy: Europe 2020. 10 Guidelines have been proposed, under two distinct legal bases: 6 Economic and 4 Employment Guidelines.
EAPN participated in the Peer Review organized by the French Presidency on the 3 and 4 December 2009, discussing their scoreboard approach to driving and monitoring poverty reduction policies.
On 30 April, DG Regio of the European Commission organized for the first time an Informal Round Table with non-governmental organisations so as to strengthen the dialogue with the European Networks of NGOs actively involved in Cohesion Policy.
