EAPN Letter to the Convention members on the social dimension of the European Union

According to EAPN, the outcome of the Convention will have effects not just for this generation of Europeans but also for all the people who will live in Europe for the coming fifty years. It is important that the outcome of the Convention speaks to the 70 million people presently living in the European Union who are experiencing poverty and social exclusion.

EAPN expectations from the Convention on the future of Europe

The Laeken Declaration rightfully underlines that “citizens want results in the field of employment and combating poverty and social exclusion”. In the series of questions addressed to the Convention, it asks “how can we intensify cooperation in the field of social inclusion…?” This paper sets out the broad areas where reform is necessary in order to enhance combating poverty and social exclusion in the European Union.
