PILI, pro-bono law institute working with NGOs

From its offices in New York, Budapest, Moscow and Beijing, the Public Interest Law Institute (PILI) has been working to promote pro bono work among lawyers and nonprofit organizations that need legal assistance to achieve their goals. PILI is bridging the gap between these two actors through its clearinghouse work in Europe and beyond. PILI is also actively assisting organizations that are designing similar local initiatives and structures in Hungary, Russia, Ireland, France, Czech Republic, Poland, Latvia and Slovenia. By supporting local development of pro bono, PILI hopes to improve the effectiveness of NGOs in their work for the public good, creating a permanent infrastructure for pro bono work while also promoting the legitimacy of pro bono and expanding the network of lawyers and law firms willing to perform such work in the future.
