29 August 2013, Brussels – Barbara Helfferich was appointed earlier this month as the new Director of the European Anti-Poverty Network (EAPN), the largest European network of national, regional and local networks, involving anti-poverty NGOs and grass-root groups as well as European Organisations active in the fight against poverty, social exclusion and inequalities. Replacing Fintan Farrell,Barbara comes to EAPN with a wealth of experience in the field of social policy, notably on social exclusion and anti-discrimination.
Details23/08 – EAPN Norway arranged a backwards march around the Norwegian Parliament, Stortinget, in Oslo. This was because the fight against poverty are going backwards and the backwards march symbolises this Development. Link to the action can be found on Youtube.
EAPN is one of the partners of the European Platform for Investing in Children (EPIC). The EPIC Platform aims to provide information about all policies that can help children and their families face up to the unprecedented challenges that exist in the current economic climate in Europe.
The main output of the Task Force will be EAPN shadow guidelines for effective stakeholder engagement including people experiencing poverty, at national and EU level in Europe 2020, which would be targeted at policy makers.
