Human Ring in Madrid

{jathumbnail}On 19th November at 20:00, the Human Ring will join up around the Monument to the Constitution in Madrid, located in front of the Natural Sciences Museum. It is expected that more than 300 people will get involved in this event.

Macedonian anti poverty NGOs launch their campaign for EU Year 2010

Macedonian Anti-Poverty Platform and Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Human Rights launched on 29^th October their campaign on the year 2010 in Skopje. The campaign aims to raise awareness and mobilize actors at national and local levels to join forces to combat poverty and social exclusion in the country.

Six organisations of people with mobility disabilities from Estonia, Finland, Latvia and Lithuania gathered for the first time at a seminar “Disability Rights and Reality” in Vilnius, Lithuania 28.–31.10.2010.

EAPN Spain: a national Congress gives visibility to people experiencing poverty and their rights as citizens

Organized by EAPN Spain and supported by public funding, a Congress on Fundamental Rights and People Experiencing Poverty and Social Exclusion will be held in Madrid on 18-20 November, as a closing event of the 2010 European Year.

FNARS (EAPN France member): the Group of united associations (Collectif des associations unies) meets Prime Minister on Housing

The “Collectif des associations unies” met in Matignon, the Governement’s residence on 10 November, with Prime Minister François Fillon, Minister for Environment Jean-Louis Borloo and Secretary of State for Housing Benoist Apparu, on the eve of a ministerial reshuffle.

The Poverty Alliance (EAPN Scotland): Welfare White Paper – Making Work Pay by making the Workless Poorer?

The UK Government launched on 11 November a White Paper on Welfare. The paper contains proposals to simplify the benefit system, to “make work pay” and introduces the idea of a ‘universal’ credit.
