EU PeP Meeting 2022 – The unbearable cost of living

EAPN hosted the 20th edition of the European Meeting of People Experiencing Poverty (PeP) from 29th to 30th November 2022 in Brussels, Belgium. The meeting title 'The unbearable cost of living’ explored challenges and solutions linked to the very high cost of living people caused by the multiple crises we are facing: economic crisis, climate crisis, the war in Ukraine, aftermath of the Corona crisis.

9.45 – 11.15 Opening Plenary Session

11.45 – 13.15 First round of parallel workshops
PeP 2022 delegates exchanged ideas and discussed the most pressing problems and issues identified during national preparations in interactive workshop settings. First round of 7 parallel workshops focused on the following topics:

  • Cost of energy
  • Cost of food
  • Cost of housing

13.15 – 14.15 Lunch break

14.15 – 15.45 Second round of parallel workshops
PeP 2022 delegates exchanged ideas and discussed the most pressing problems and issues identified during national preparations in interactive workshop settings. Second round of 7 parallel workshops focused on the following topics:

  • Cost of energy
  • Cost of food
  • Cost of housing

15.45 – 16.15 Coffee break

16.15 – 17.15 Third round of thematic workshops
After a productive first day, national delegations came together to develop key messages based on the ideas harvested in previous rounds of workshops. 

17.15 – 18.30 VISIBILITY ACTION
Each year, the EU PeP Meeting aims to amplify the voices of people experiencing poverty. EAPN brought this year’s delegates around Brussels to connect with the wider audience and raise awareness of poverty and social exclusion in Europe.
