SUMMARY:Affordable Energy\, a Basic Social Right - How to abolish Energy Poverty?
DESCRIPTION:A workshop will be held in the European Parliament\, organised by Delegation DIE LINKE. (in the European Parliament); Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung Brussels Office; Transform Europe Network. \nThe following topics will be discussed:\n1) Ensuring the basic social right; safeguards against disconnection: how can access to affordable energy be assured;\n2) Re-municipalisation of the grid and utilities: how can the fight against energy poverty be implemented;\n3) How can community energy projects mitigate energy poverty;\n4) How can people\, affected by energy poverty\, benefit from energy efficiency measures in buildings. How can we ensure that the renovation of existing buildings gives priority to energy-poor citizens. \nObjectives of the workshop:\nExchanging ideas\, formulation of concrete political demands;\nStrengthening the network of stakeholders who have been working on this topic;\nBuilding of political coalitions\, discussion of possible strategies;\nPromoting our political demands with regard to the ongoing political struggles on the legislative process on the clean energy package and the discussion on the European pillar of social rights. \nContact: Marlis Gensler\, marlis.gensler(at)rosalux(dot)org
