SUMMARY:Thematic Meeting on Inclusive Language in Social Rights Communication
DESCRIPTION:Our next Thematic Meeting on Inclusive Language in Social Rights Communication will explore how the words we use to talk about poverty and social exclusion shape perceptions\, reinforce or challenge stigma and influence power relations. \nLanguage is never neutral. The way we frame poverty in policy\, communication and everyday discourse has a direct impact on how people are understood and treated. \nBuilding on the COMM’ON Guidelines\, which stress that communication should be not only accessible but also participatory\, this session will reflect on how language can either reproduce or challenge exclusion. \n🗓️ Date: Thursday 18th June\n🕒 Time: 12:30 p.m. (CET)\n📍 Format: Online \nWe’re happy to announce Dr. Keetie Roelen from the Poverty Unpacked Media Project and Karen Grech\, a representative from Malta’s Anti-Poverty Forum\, as our speakers. It will be an interactive session\, in which everyone will have the opportunity to actively participate. \n📩 To register\, send an email to laura.ballester@eapn.eu

DESCRIPTION:On Tuesday 13 October 2026\, the second edition of EU Anti-Poverty Day will take place in the European Parliament\, Brussels. \nThe agenda will explore what is needed to make the 2050 goal a reality\, including the protection of social rights\, tackling socio-economic discrimination and child poverty and ensuring the meaningful participation of people experiencing poverty\, among other topics. \nThe day will bring together high-level EU decision-makers\, Members of the European Parliament\, people with lived experience of poverty\, civil society organisations and other key stakeholders to confront these questions and work towards concrete solutions. \nRegistration for in-person attendance is open until 5 October 2026.
