SUMMARY:EAPN Talks: Back to Solidarity
DESCRIPTION:In a time of growing inequality\, division and overlapping crises\, solidarity remains a vital force for advocacy\, politics and social movements. When organisations and activists are constantly responding to the next emergency\, there’s little room left to ask what could be built together and what’s standing in the way. \nOur next EAPN Talks session takes up that question directly. During our webinar we will explore how solidarity can move beyond being an abstract value and become a practical principle for collective action. \nTo do so\, we’re pleased to welcome Gina Romero\, UN Special Rapporteur on the rights to freedom of peaceful assembly and of association and Cecilia Bailliet\, Independent Expert on human rights and international solidarity. \nThe session will be interactive\, with space for conversation and questions from participants. \n🗓️ Date: Thursday 22 October\n🕒 Time: 2:00 p.m. (CET)\n📍 Format: Online event (Zoom) \nRegister here \nAbout EAPN Talks\nEAPN Talks brings together activists and civil society organisations to explore key topics\, creating space for EAPN members to learn\, share experiences and collaborate.

SUMMARY:EAPN Talks Live: Gender and Poverty. The human stories behind the policies
DESCRIPTION:What does it take to tackle gendered poverty if our ambition is not simply to reduce poverty\, but to eradicate it? Join a facilitated conversation connecting evidence and EU policy. \nFor EAPN\, poverty is a violation of fundamental rights\, shaped not only by income but by access to work\, social protection\, housing\, essential services and a say in decisions. Gendered norms\, unpaid domestic work\, exclusion from the labour-market and unequal access to resources shape how people experience poverty. But gender doesn’t operate alone\, so our conversation will take an intersectional approach\, looking at how racism\, migration status\, disability\, age\, sexuality and place of residence intersect with gender to shape experiences of exclusion. \nThere will be no slides and no long speeches. The factsheet’s findings are only the starting point for a facilitated discussion that will bring together evidence and diverse perspectives to find solutions towards the eradication of poverty. \nThe conversation will be recorded as an episode of EAPN Talks: Live. \n  \nWho will be in the conversation: \n– Katarina Ivankovic-Knezevic\, Director for Social Rights and Inclusion\, DG EMPL\, European Commission \n– Marie-Amah Kouadio\, Senior Policy and Advocacy Officer\, EAPN EU \nAdditional speakers to be announced. \n  \nCheck out the full agenda and register here: https://forms.gle/96LP7wpwi1nUZRX27 \n  \n
