Macedonian anti poverty NGOs launch their campaign for EU Year 2010
Macedonian Anti-Poverty Platform and Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Human Rights launched on 29th October their campaign on the year 2010 in Skopje. The campaign aims to raise awareness and mobilize actors at national and local levels to join forces to combat poverty and social exclusion in the country.
Statistics show that every third person in Macedonia lives at risk of poverty and while the government has taken some measures, primarily conditional cash transfers, NGOs call for a stronger commitment and mobilization on the issue. The launching press conference included representatives of the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, Macedonian Anti-Poverty Platform (MAPP), EAPN, representatives of the European Union Delegation and, as the main funders, Austrian Embassy.
