The Poverty Alliance (EAPN Scotland): New Statistics Show Increasing In-Work Poverty in Scotland

01/07/2014 – Today’s figures published by the Scottish Government on Poverty and Inequality show a rise in the number of people in Scotland living in poverty, and highlights the continuing increase in in-work poverty.  In 2012/13, 16 per cent of people in Scotland were living in poverty, compared with 14 per cent the previous year.  In real terms, this means that there are now 820,000 individuals are now living in poverty in Scotland.

EAPN co-signs Europe+ letter to MEPs

01/07/2014 – Europe+, an alliance of 40+ European civil society organisations working together for positive democratic change in the EU through the active and better involvement of citizens, wrote a letter to the new MEPs to engage with them in a constructive dialogue to ensure civil society participates fully in this new legislative term. Europe+ builds on the recommendations of the 2013 European Year of Citizens Alliance that developed a policy agenda to ensure a vibrant European democracy where decisions are made in line with citizens’ needs, aspirations and visions for society.
