EAPN Portugal developing national and transnational projects in different fields and organising a seminar

  • Project JANUS (2011- 2012) – National project aimed at minimum-income beneficiaries, to promote the development of individualized pathways of social and professional integration through the transmission of basic skills (social, personal, relational and professional) and the definition of life projects.
  • In PATH – Intelligent Pathways for better Inclusion (October 2011- November 2013) – Grundtvig Multilateral Project, promoted by the Sociedade Portuguesa de Inovação and involving 5 transnational partners and EAPN Portugal.  The aim of this project is to break the pattern of transferring poverty and exclusion from one generation to the next (social inheritance), by empowering marginalized and disadvantaged citizens to easily manage everyday problems in different areas and not to be held back by their background. It also aims to change the perspectives and beliefs about the learning processes, by fostering the commitment with lifelong learning initiatives using the multiple intelligence theory of Howard Gardner (and approaching different learning styles).
  • Violence in Transit (June 2011- June 2013) – Daphne Project promoted by the On the Road ONLUS Association (Italy) in partnership with EAPN Portugal, the Ass. para la Promocion y la Insercion Profesional (Spain) and Europe Consulting Societa Cooperativa Sociale Onlus (Italy). The project aims to develop transferable interventions in Street Youth Violence field in areas of transit and flow (where there is high presence of violence-related phenomena: drug dealing, prostitution, homeless people, traffic in human beings victims, urban deviance).

    • EAPN Portugal is also organising its International Seminar of the Lisbon Observatory to Fight Poverty, Lisbon 3 February 2012.

    The main aim of this seminar is to present the results of a study “Barometer of people in vulnerable situations”. This study will be presented by Alexandra Castro and commented by Jordi Estivill, Carlos Farinha Rodrigues and Isabel Guerra (experts on the field). The afternoon programme includes a round table on “Social observation in a crisis context” with representatives of Observatories on poverty from different European countries: Jordi Estivill (Catalonia, Spain), Robert Kovács (Budapest, Hungary), Vito Telesca (Province of Potenza, Italy), Jan Vranken (OASes, Belgium), Didier Gelot (France), Sergio Aires (Lisbon Observatory, Portugal).

    This seminar is promoted by the Lisbon Observatory to Fight Poverty which is an initiative of EAPN Portugal, financed by Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa and Montepio Geral.
