European Anti-Poverty Network Launches New Report on Poverty Eradication and the European Pillar of Social Rights

Brussels, 18 March 2026 – The European Anti-Poverty Network (EAPN) will launch its latest report, “Advancing Poverty Eradication through the European Pillar of Social Rights,” during an online webinar on 18 March 2026 from 10:00–11:00 CET. The event will be hosted by Jessica Machacova and Marie-Amah Kouadio, Senior Policy and Advocacy Officers at EAPN.

The report addresses key questions for Europe’s fight against poverty: What will be the role of the European Pillar of Social Rights (EPSR) once the EU Anti-Poverty Strategy is adopted? How can both frameworks work together to achieve the European Commission’s goal of eradicating poverty in Europe by 2050?

“With the European Commission’s renewed EPSR Action Plan (2025–2030) expected in July 2026, it is crucial to understand how social rights and anti-poverty strategies can reinforce each other to move from poverty reduction to the ultimate goal of poverty eradication,” said Jessica Machacova, Senior Policy and Advocacy Officer at EAPN.

The webinar will explore:

  • How the EPSR Action Plan and the EU Anti-Poverty Strategy can complement each other
  • Why progress towards EU poverty targets remains too slow
  • How EU economic governance and fiscal rules impact social investment
  • The role of the Multiannual Financial Framework in financing social rights

The report draws on the perspectives of EAPN members across Europe and emphasises the importance of aligning the EPSR and EU Anti-Poverty Strategy to ensure coordinated, effective action at local, national, and EU levels. EAPN calls on policymakers and governments to take decisive steps to guarantee that social rights and anti-poverty measures work together to achieve poverty eradication by 2050.
