We are excited to announce that the call for workshop proposals for Anti-Poverty Day 2025 is now open!
Event Date: 5 November 2025
Location: European Parliament, Brussels
Workshop Submission Deadline: 6 October 2025
The Anti-Poverty Day is taking place for the first time, organised by EAPN in collaboration with the Intergroup on Fighting Against Poverty: a flagship event placing lived experience at the heart of EU policymaking.
The event will bring together MEPs, officials, civil society, grassroots movements and, crucially, People Experiencing Poverty (PEP) to drive political development and policy change on the matter. If you’d like to lead a one-hour, diverse, creative and solution-oriented session, please complete the online proposal form by 22 September 2025.
Who Can Apply?
We welcome proposals from:
- NGOs & civil-society organisations (EU-wide, national and local)
- Grassroots collectives & activist movements
- Delegates or groups of People Experiencing Poverty (PEP)
- Academic or policy think-tanks
- Trade unions
- Members of the European Parliament (especially in collaboration with civil society or PEP)
Tip: Joint applications that pair institutional expertise with lived experience are strongly encouraged.
Themes & Format
We encourage workshops to be rooted in real-world contexts, enable systemic critique, use participatory methods, propose clear policy or mobilisation pathways, apply an intersectional lens, address poverty’s root causes, and value the leadership of people experiencing poverty.
Your one-hour workshop will be effective if it’s interactive, creative and solution-oriented.
Suggested themes include (but are not limited to):
- Defining and measuring poverty and the missing poor: who gets left out and why?
- Intersectionality and poverty (gender, race, disability, migration, socio-economic discrimination, etc.)
- Tackling in-work poverty and protection of workers’ rights
- Criminalisation of poverty
- Participation: the practice of meaningful engagement in policymaking
- Grassroots practices to combat exclusion
- Local anti-poverty strategies
- Climate justice and the cost of “green” policies on low-income communities
- Intergenerational justice and the cycle of poverty
How to apply
Complete the online proposal form by the deadline. Selected facilitators will be notified by end-September and will receive full logistical support (accreditation, workshop space, accessibility assistance).
All submitted proposals will be reviewed by the secretariat of EAPN and the Intergroup on Fighting Against Poverty. They will assess each proposal based on its relevance to the event’s objectives, clarity, feasibility, and the meaningful involvement of people experiencing poverty. In case of similar proposals, we will encourage collaboration between applicants. We aim to ensure a balanced and diverse proposals.
