In addition to economic poverty, it is the cultural poverty that creates exclusion and marginalization. Children and adolescents dropping out of school are exposed to all forms of discrimination and if we do not act, it will be the whole society to pay the consequences.
With this seminar, organized in the South of the country, where 27% of the children do not finish high school (source: Centro Studi Investimenti Sociali, 2013) , we want to: give voice, listen and learn from those who are rarely heard, people in poverty and socially excluded but also parents, families, children and adolescents, and those who daily commit themselves to the fight against poverty to ensure a sustainable future in their own territory; build pathways to growth and listening between all these actors and policy makers; questioning ourselves on the links between poverty and school dropout; exchange of experiences and good practices.
The results of this workshop, together with those of other meetings that are taking place throughout the country, will be systematized into a single document that will form the basis of the Italian delegation in the European Meeting of People Experiencing Poverty.
