The Forum was smaller than expected, but still managed to encourage a useful exchange from a wide range of participants.
A workshop entitled ”Empowering people in poverty – making globalization work for the poor” was co-organized by EAPN with Dignity International and CONCORD and built on the experience of empowerment and rights-based actions with people experiencing poverty in the EU and the South, as part of the fight against global poverty. The workshop started with presentations by Ludo Horemans, EAPN President and Andreas Maksimovic, Concord Board member discussing the impact of globalization on poverty.
The second half explored the role of empowerment and right-based actions, including the showing and discussion of a new film “the Citizen” made by EAPN Sweden charting the experience of Swedish people experiencing poverty to the 6th Meeting of People Experiencing Poverty in Brussels in May 2007.
Other Events in which EAPN participated included a workshop entitled “Exploding Food Prices -Building new alliances, for access to healthy and affordable food for all”, as well as another one on “the risk of exclusion and poverty of the elderly, today and tomorrow: The right of ageing in dignity”.
