EAPN Austria and Greenpeace combined efforts and wrote a joint ‘Open letter’ to all political parties recently in Austria, stressing the economic and social policy implications of rising energy prices.
According to the most recent social report of the Austrian government more then 300.000 people in Austria cannot afford to keep their homes sufficiently warm in the winter and these numbers are expected to increase dramatically in the coming months.
According to EAPN Austria and Greenpeace, this situation must not lead to short-term populist measures but to serious investments in sustainable solutions.
