On 12 October, EAPN Ireland launched a new publication called “Building Public Support for Tackling Poverty”. The short, eight page guide is aimed at community and voluntary organisations, NGOs, anti-poverty campaigners and social studies students.
Included in the guide is a section that focuses on poverty statistics in Ireland, as well as a section that focuses on building support for tackling poverty in the media. The publication is now available on EAPN Ireland’s new website (www.eapn.ie), launched on 22 October. “The Lisbon Treaty’s Social Side”, an innovative three minute motion graphic piece on the social aspects of the Lisbon Treaty, has received nearly 5,000 hits since it was launched two weeks before polling day. The Irish Times described it as an “excellent example” of viral campaigning and the video was picked up by the Irish Election Website, Business Week, the Green Party Lisbon Resource Page, Prionsias de Rossa MEP to name but a few.
