Wealth Distribution in Ireland
As part of EAPN’s explainer on Wealth “Wealth, Inequality and Social Polarisation: Towards a Fairer Share of Prosperity” that will soon be published, EAPN Ireland has just published a document on the distribution of wealth in Ireland. EAPN Ireland’s document on wealth distribution shows that the top 1% of the Irish population hold 20% of the wealth, the top 2% control 30% and the top 5% disposes of 40% of private assets.
EAPN Ireland Submission to the Independent Review of ERO and REA Wage Setting Mechanisms
EAPN Ireland has made a policy submission to the Independent Review of ERO and REA Wage Setting Mechanisms which attempts to address misperceptions regarding the position of Ireland’s minimum wage arrangements in a comparative EU context; the link between driving down wages and increasing poverty in Ireland; the negative implications for wage reduction for economic growth; and well as the central role of participation in decision making and the importance of social dialogue in that regard.
