EAPN Ireland said on 12 December that it is deeply saddened that Mr Niall Crowley has been forced into the position of resigning as Chief Executive of The Equality Authority.
According to EAPN Ireland, the most vulnerable groups in society, including those who experience poverty, will be the ones to suffer by recent government decisions which have brought about Niall’s resignation.
Anna Visser, Director of EAPN Ireland said: “Over the last ten years Niall has built up the Equality Authority, a body recognised in Europe as a model of good practice, only to see it slashed by the decision in Budget 2009”. She continued: “Niall’s resignation is in keeping with his integrity, honesty and deep commitment to equality and social inclusion”.
