EAPN is looking for a research analyst to conduct its annual report on the state of poverty and social exclusion. The European Poverty Watch report compiles data and analysis from EAPN members’ bottom-up research national Poverty Watch reports: evidence-based research effort on the current trends and policies on poverty and social exclusion in Europe with concrete recommendations on EAPN’s priority matters. As our key annual advocacy tool, this exercise, , puts poverty as a multidimensional concept at the top of the European political agenda, addresses the root causes of poverty and amplifies the voices of people experiencing poverty (PEP) both at national and regional levels. The Poverty Watches are rooted in the reality of EAPN members’ work, and the priorities and expertise of PeP. Above all, it should be an effective communication tool aiming to a) signpost key developments/trends on poverty and the impact of social, economic, digital and green policies at the national level, b) identify the key issues and c) propose person-centred and rights-based solutions. The target audience of the Poverty Watch reports are European and national institutions, private stakeholders, academia, civil society organisations, people experiencing poverty and a wider public.
MAIN OBJECTIVES FOR THE 2024 EUROPEAN POVERTY WATCH:
TOWARD A SYSTEMIC AND STRUCTURAL APPROACH TO SOCIAL PROTECTION (provisional title)
- Explore and understand the structural and systemic shortcomings and failures of the social protection systems
- Ensure that the social protection system in 2024 remains a key tool for the redistribution of wealth and resources
- Understand the systemic dynamics (referring to the overall political and economic model) and the structural barriers (referring to gaps, inconsistencies and violation of rights in policy design and their implementation)
