26-27/06 – During the “City Conference on Social Affairs”, organized by the local administration, one of EAPN Italy’s colleagues, Claudio Tosi, an educator, was arrested for no other reason that trying to distribute leaflets outside the conference room. See: http://www.paesesera.it/
“The current administration managed by the right-wing mayor Alemanno, coupled with the crisis, have just about destroyed the city where nothing works as it should: transports, social services, garbage collection … but to be put in jail for distributing leaflets is a novelty!
We have known Claudio for more than 10 years. He is a pacifist, a community educator, ironic, absolutely against any form of physical and verbal violence. He met with armed policemen defending the blockhouse where the mayor and his administration had locked themselves in.
Claudio spent the night in jail and today he will be under trial! All of us working in the social field are open to exchanges, ready to fight for everybody’s rights, ready to pay in first person, as it happened to Claudio. We are not proposing anything, we only want to let you know what is going on in Rome since this is what we can do freely”. Nicoletta and Letizia, EAPN Italy.
