The EU Alliance for Investing in Children gathers together over 20 European civil society organizations with the objective to strengthen the cooperation in the field of children’s rights advocacy on the EU leveland to work together for the implementation of the Council Recommendation on Investing in Children. The Alliance is led by EuroChild and EAPN has been an active member at EU level on the Steering Group(Kart Mere) and EU advocacy group (Sian Jones), as well as on the national level. The most recent activity of the Alliance touches upon theWritten Declaration on Investing in Children (number 0042/2015)that was initiated by the 11 Members of the European Parliament in September this year. The Declaration has three main demands:
- To develop an indicator on the risk of child poverty or social exclusion within the social dimension of the Economic and Monetary Union
- To keep the pressure high on the EU and Member States to set specific sub-targets to reduce child poverty and social exclusion as a contribution to the overall poverty reduction target of Europe 2020.
- To put in place an EU Roadmap for the implementation and monitoring of the European Commission’s Recommendation on Investing in Children: Breaking the Cycle of Disadvantaged
