22/03 – Omroep Max, a Dutch media channel, broadcasted a whole-day long radio and TV shows about the situation of the elderly in the Netherlands, mainly about the growing poverty and social exclusion.The radio show Wekker-Wakker dedicated 4 hours to the topic.
Alida Smeekes, President of EAPN Netherlands was interviewed as a person experiencing poverty herself, as weel as Anke van der Vliet, a person experiencing poverty involved and on the board of EAPN NL. Jo Bothmer was also interviewed as the co-ordinator of the local conferences on poverty of EAPN NL and representative of EAPN NL.

In the evening, the TV-show “Tijd voor Max” also tackled the issue. Marianne van Linschoten, person experiencing poverty involved in EAPN NL and delegate in the two last years at the European Meeting of People experiencing poverty conference was one of the guests of the show.
This enabled EAPN NL to meet, amongst others, a Dutch senator, with whom they made an agreement to meet soon and see how they, together, can give this item an extra push on the political agenda and if there might be ground for cooperation.
EAPN NL greatly appreciated Omroep Max initiative and encouraged them to keep giving more visibility to topcis related to poverty and social exclusion, reiterating as well their will to cooperate.
