The focus was on finding the right policy responses in times of austerity, and the ESDE review includes very useful chapters on the effectiveness and efficiency of social protection systems in reducing poverty and functioning economies, and also reviews of tax as well as employment policy. Finally, the Review looks at the impact of wage developments and the problem of skill mismatches as well, concluding a fair and equitable structural adjustment agenda is needed.
