In this position paper, EAPN is arguing is that the commitment made by Heads of State and Government in Lisbon in 2000 to bring forward a strategy to make a decisive impact on the eradication of poverty is as relevant, if not even more relevant, today.
That the processes that have been put in place to deliver such a strategy need to be reinforced, as was identified in the Presidency conclusions to the Spring 2004 Council.
That it takes time to develop these mechanisms for cooperation at European level and that within the streamlining approach the elements of the Inclusion strategy which have been developed to date should remain visible at least until 2010 as was envisaged at the Lisbon Council.
