This document is the report of an EAPN seminar which was held in Düsseldorf on 14 and 15 June 2002.
This seminar gave an opportunity to pool the thoughts and experiences of different EAPN Task Forces that monitor the employment and inclusion strategies, and the use of the Structural Funds, and was characterized by particularly productive debates. NGOs see two major challenges in the current policies. Given the multi-dimensionality of poverty, requiring action on many fronts, how to ensure that the different policies concerned are joined up and hang together in practice? At a time of falling unemployment, when exclusion is no longer the concern it was, how to keep the fight against poverty at the top of the agenda?
This report summarizes the workshop and plenary session discussions which followed the panel discussion, and includes the key points of what the panel discussants had to say.
