He gave an input during the session “Life after babyboomers” in a panel on “Reducing the risk of intergenerational-friction” composed by Phil Zarlengo as keynote speaker.
In the context of the global financial crisis and high unemployment, several issues were raised, such as the pension reforms, the mismatch between retirement and new jobs, no real competition for jobs between generations but the need by the older generations to help creating new jobs. Carlos Susias referred the so-called current competition for jobs between young and older generations as “fallacious”, as such competition does not exist and is only an attempt for introducing/maintaining precarious jobs.
