The conference launched a new Commission video, highlighting the key challenges and impact and was followed by key inputs by Professor K Galbraith and Commissioner Andor. Parallel workshops were organised on the issues of: taxation, social services, employment and labour market, children and education, redistribution, social security and cash benefits, regional inequalities. The final day closed with conclusions from the workshops, and 2 panel debates chaired by Koos Richelle, Director General of DG Employment including ETUC, Business Europe and Social Platform and with a final quality important debate with Pedro Mota Soares (Minister for Solidarity and Social Security, Portugal),Tamar Manuelyan Atinc (Vice President, World Bank), Danish Presidency and Frank Vandenbroucke (Professor, University of Antwerp). The conference was closed by Commissioner Andor.
It was notable for the high quality of the inputs, and a strong focus on participation from the audience with shared conclusions.
