The conference included important inputs from: Jo Leinen MEP (Chair of the European Environment, Public Health and Food Safety Committee), Martin Seychel (Deputy Director of DG SANCO), Staffan Nilsson (President of the European Economic and Social Committee), and Sir Michael Marmot (Chair of the WHO Commission on the Social Determinants of Health), as well as from EAPN, AGE, CECODHAS and Eurochild. EAPN the importance of challenging the causes of poverty and inequality as a key factor in reducing health inequality, as well as the impact of ill-health on poverty, and the risks and opportunities offered by Europe 2020.
