In his contribution Fintan highlighted that hunger and food poverty is a growing problem in many European countries and that the adoption of this programme was essential, as part of a solidarity response to an emergency need. He also stressed that the programme should support a reflection on the causes of the rise in this problem and the identification of sustainable solutions (such as adequate Minimum Income Schemes) to reverse this trend. It was also the opportunity to highlight the amendments to the draft programme which EAPN had developed with Caritas Europa, Eurodiaconia,Eurochild, FEANTSA, FEBA, and the Red Cross EU Office.
