The conference, entitled “Claiming Back Democracy”, featured a series of parallel workshops, dedicated to 5 emergency areas (on which concrete joint action was agreed) and 7 thematic areas (to deepen the discussion on core issues for the participating organisations). EAPN ran a well-attended thematic workshop on Decent Wages and Adequate Minimum Income, and several EAPN members attended the full event and engaged in discussions. The final declaration of the conference denounces the Fiscal Pact, as it hinders any transition to a sustainable and social economic model, while striking a serious blow to democracy. Immediately following the conference, 20 key European stakeholders, 7 research networks and 26 national and European organizations launched a call for an Alternative Summit to restore democracy in Europe. More information on www.altersummit.eu.
