EAPN Training on Information and Communications Techonologies and on how to get heard in the media, 12 & 13 December 2013, Leuven

Introduction

Day 1 – Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs) and social media for social NGOs (Thursday 12 Dec 2013, full day 9:00-17:00)

The first day of training approached Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs), notably social media, which are useful for NGOs and how to use them, and use them strategically, with the practical frame of EAPN’s big 2014 campaign: 2014 European Elections campaign, to see how, in practice, these techs and tools can be applied.

The campaign’s strategy was therefore introduced. Designed for the EU level primarily, the campaign’s strategy proposes items of national-level strategies. Of course, each national network will have its own strategy, with its own tools and messages, ideally in line with the EU-level one so that the EU-level and the national-level strategies strengthen and support each other on this common EAPN campaign.

This training also includes the production of a toolkit on “social media for social NGOs” for all members to use and share.

Day 2 – How to get heard in the media (Friday 13 Dec 2013, half a day, 9:00-12:30)

This session was devoted to 1) an overview of the EU press corps (panorama, how EU press work; 2) Press releases (how and when?); 3 tips for interviews

This 1,5 day training is organised with the support of Jonas Candalija (Communications officer from EAPN Spain, Journalist and also used to organising ICT training for NGOs in Spain) and Saviour Grima (EXCO member for Malta and member of the Communications EXCO Subgroup).
