On 2nd July, the European Commission published its long awaited “Renewed Social Policy Agenda“, as well as a whole “Social Package”, )”, which are meant to give a new impetus to the EU’s commitment in the social field.
But do the proposals really bring something new? Do they mark a major step forward for the EU to put poverty on top of its own agenda? And beyond the rhetoric, has the fight against poverty and social exclusion really been set as a priority?
EAPN has recently published a briefing which aims to clarify the different issues at stake and analyse the impact of the Commission’s proposals on the fight against poverty and social exclusion. EAPN will be reacting separately to the Renewed Agenda as well as to the Communication on the OMC.
