The conference gathered more than 200 participants from Estonian anti-poverty organizations. Pauline Geoghegan and Tanya Basarab from EAPN Europe participated in the conference together with Leena Veikkola from EAPN Finland and Vigdis von Ely from EAPN Norway. Participants in the conference discussed the value base in Estonia, the impact of precarious working conditions due to business relocation and the reality of those living in poverty as a result of the crisis. EAPN Estonia’s campaign Think and Talk about Poverty has been widely published in national media and helped raise awareness in society about the reality of people living in poverty in Estonia. The Deputy Secretary General on Social Policy signed the joint messages for the year 2010.
On the occasion of the conference, EAPN guests discussed with members and partners of EAPN Estonia about the importance and benefits of cooperating together as part of a European movement to combat poverty and social exclusion. For more information, please visit www.eapn.ee
