On 7 June, the European Commission adopted 27 country-specific Recommendations evaluating the Member States’ National Reform Programmes and their Stability and Convergence Programmes. EAPN expected the Recommendations to include a clear focus on addressing the target to reduce poverty by at least 20 million by 2020. While the Commission acknowledges that Member States will need to do more to reach the agreed EU poverty-reduction target, they make no credible recommendations about how to achieve this.
