Key note speakers included Poul Nyup Rasmussen, President of PES; Andrew Watt, ETUI presenting new ETUI publication on a social and sustainable growth model; Susan George, President of the Transnational Institute, and Frank Vandenbroucke, Member of the Belgian Senate and joint author of the new joint OSE publication: Europe needs a social investment pact. (see more below) The conference presented the proposed 5 points for a new growth model: new and better jobs, a stronger industry, equality, an improved environment and stakeholders rather than shareholders. EAPN intervened in the event highlighting the need to ensure a stronger focus on reducing inequalities, and strengthening social protection and minimum income, in such an integrated strategy. The results of the conference will feed into the PES preparation for its ‘Progressive Society Convention’, to be held in Brussels this November. Click here to read more about the conference.
