That is the call being made today by the Poverty Alliance, a network of anti-poverty organisations in Scotland, as it launches a discussion paper ‘Constitutional Reform and Poverty’. With persistent levels of inequality, mass unemployment and almost one in five of the population living on a low income, it is crucial that all of those engaging in the constitutional debate state clearly how they will address these problems.
The discussion paper takes the form of a series of questions focused around five areas: ‘poverty and power’, ‘equality and fairness’, ‘welfare state and benefits’, ‘Scotland’s workforce’ and ‘democratic Scotland’. Full press release here.
