Sérgio underlined that EAPN was quite worried about the fact that poverty was growing all over Europe; growing in numbers and intensity, affecting new groups of citizens. He talked about the situation of people experiencing poverty including the difficulties that people faced when two salaries were not enough anymore to sustain a family. He emphasized that the current trends were destabilizing the EU. EAPN asked for this meeting to inform President van Rompuy about these concerns.
