Publication Impact Covid
Covid-19 has tremendously shaken the world, which led to the destabilisation of national economies and political systems, as well as increased poverty rates and growing inequalities. As a result, people experiencing poverty or at the verge of poverty face a whole range of new risks and challenges, such as increased health risks or socio-economic difficulties.
EAPN has recently published a detailed report on the impact of Covid-19 on people experiencing poverty in Europe. The Belgian Anti-Poverty Network has contributed to a similar publication on Belgium, in cooperation with regional poverty networks. The publication focuses on the challenges for PEP on the one hand, and recommendations for federal policymaking on the other hand.

- Contribution to the interfederal taskforce ‘Vulnerable Groups’
- Recommendations for legislative proposals and other initiative
- Raising awaraness for specific issues in the field

Economic and political recovery from the virus will be challenging, and policymakers should not ignore the most affected groups in this plan. In addition to the publication, BAPN has therefore participated in a call-for-action to create a ‘new normal’ after the pandemic. This new normal should focus on a social, sustainable and just transition in post-Corona Belgium, in order to combat social and climatic challenges.
