{jathumbnail}On 28 February, the Slovak Anti-Poverty Network (SAPN) will hold the second Public Hearing on Poverty in Slovakia, in the National Council of the Slovak Republic, under the auspices of the Chair of the National Council, Pavol Hrušovský. About 80 people with experience of poverty, NGOs working with them and members of Parliament will take part.
With the early parliamentary elections on 10 March, the hearing will start with the presentation of an assessment of the social agenda in electoral programmes of the Parliament’s parties (20 volunteers from SAPN are involved, each political programme receives two independent assessments to reach as much objectivity as possible).
Representatives of roofless people, large families, lonely living seniors, jobless people, people living in segregated Roma settlements will speak about the hardship of their lives, that seem to be out of the political focus.
The floor will then be given to representatives of political parties to expose their programme on fighting poverty and securing for more people a dignified life.
The final part of the programme will be dedicated to some free exchange between members of the Parliament and people with experience of poverty.
The event will also be supported by the Friedring Ebert Stiftung and Institute for Sociology.
