3/03/2015- Recommendations for a more caring EU.
Friends of Europe high level group on the Social Union has launched a report based on recommendations for a more caring European Union. The reports highlights the evidence for the productive role of social policy and the negative impacts the current dominant microeconomics priorities are having in society. A broader approach to social investment through the life cycle particularly on early learning/education, increasing skills, mobility underpinned by EU social standards (such as access to social services or minimum income through adequate wages). This policy document also highlights the importance of civil dialogue, social inclusion and prevention and alleviation of homelessness and the need for a European pact reviewing growing inequalities through the life cycle.
The report calls upon the Juncker investment pack and underlies the importance of human investment as equal to other areas of Europe’s competitiveness.
