EAPN releases a new manual on Structural Funds, for social inclusion NGOs determined to ensure that EU structural funds are effective instruments for making Europe a more inclusive society.
Building on case studies and practical tips, it focuses on how NGOs can be a critical voice in the development of structural funds and on the opportunities to use them for social inclusion projects (in particular after the end of the EQUAL programme). It also provides guidance in how to look to the next structural funds round (2014-2020).
“At a time when it is increasingly difficult for anti-poverty NGOs to access Structural Funds, this manual should contribute to ensuring that the funds are an instrument for social inclusion”, says Fintan Farrell, Director of EAPN.
Participation of NGOs and grass-root organizations in cohesion policy is all the more crucial in the context of the current crisis and in response to the need for increased simplification, better absorption and refocusing on the most disadvantaged.
