What does it take to tackle gendered poverty if our ambition is not simply to reduce poverty, but to eradicate it? Join a facilitated conversation connecting evidence and EU policy.
For EAPN, poverty is a violation of fundamental rights, shaped not only by income but by access to work, social protection, housing, essential services and a say in decisions. Gendered norms, unpaid domestic work, exclusion from the labour-market and unequal access to resources shape how people experience poverty. But gender doesn’t operate alone, so our conversation will take an intersectional approach, looking at how racism, migration status, disability, age, sexuality and place of residence intersect with gender to shape experiences of exclusion.
There will be no slides and no long speeches. The factsheet’s findings are only the starting point for a facilitated discussion that will bring together evidence and diverse perspectives to find solutions towards the eradication of poverty.
The conversation will be recorded as an episode of EAPN Talks: Live.
Who will be in the conversation:
– Katarina Ivankovic-Knezevic, Director for Social Rights and Inclusion, DG EMPL, European Commission
– Marie-Amah Kouadio, Senior Policy and Advocacy Officer, EAPN EU
Additional speakers to be announced.
