Working Yet Poor (WorkYP) is a 3 year project financed under the Horizon 2020 scheme that started on the 1st of February 2020 and will end in January 2023. The sole focus of this project is the study of the increasing social trend of working people at risk of below the poverty line.
This project aims to:
- uncover the reasons behind this phenomenon
- elaborate recommendations to the EU and Member States legislators
- reinforce the European Pillar of Social Rights particularly its principles of fair and adequate wages and adequate protection for all kinds of employment
Consortium
The Consortium is composed of 12 partners:
- 9 European Universities
- 3 Social Rights Institutions including EAPN Europe
Methodology
Seven representative countries have been chosen based on their geographical area and their different social systems and legal orders namely Sweden, Italy, The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany and Poland. In each of these countries, four clusters of particularly Vulnerable and Under-represented Persons (VUPs) which disadvantaged conditions impede full enjoyment of EU citizenship have been identified:
- low wage workers
- solo self-employed
- flexible work contracts
- casual/zero-hours/gig-economy workers
