EAPN participates in planning meeting for ECI on Basic Income in EP

The Committee of the Regions (CoR) Economic and Social Commission (ECOS) held a Round Table session on the impact of the crisis, to assess solutions for improving the social impact and the creation of jobs.
{jathumbnail}29-30/03 – The second Joint Social Conference was organised in Brussels by an alliance of over 40 trade unions, NGOs and social movements from 20 countries, of which EAPN is a prominent member.
EAPN secretariat and EAPN Estonia participated in the launch conference on Learning for Well Being: a policy priority for children and youth in Europe – a movement for change.
01-02/03 – EAPN participated in stakeholder workshop as part of an international project coordinated by Oxford University on shame, social exclusion and the effectiveness of anti poverty programmes.
06/03 – On 17-18 Nov 2011, a significant Peer Review was held in Brussels on ‘Developing effective ex ante social impact assessment with a focus on methodology, tools and data sources’, hosted by the Belgian Government. EAPN was the expert NGO involved together with COFACE, represented by Maria Jeliazkova from EAPN Bulgaria.
The Initiative Committee is pleased to invite social movements and unions interested by this process to the 2nd Social Spring Conference that shall take place on: Thursday 29th & Friday 30th, March 2012 in Brussels, the ETUC auditorium ITUH (International Trade Union House) – Boulevard Albert II, 5 – 1000 Brussels.
19/03, Danish Presidency, Copenhagen – EAPN Secretariat and EAPN Denmark participated in the Presidency Conference co-organized with the intergovernmental Group: Europe de L’Enfance and the European Commission in Copehagen this week. The focus of the conference was to deepen discussion on key issues, in preparation for the Recommendation on child poverty due out later this year.
{jathumbnail}EAPN participated in an important conference on the 26 January in the European Parliament, exploring the role and arguments for strengthening social protection systems at EU and global level in the context of the crisis, organized by Jean Lambert and Mrs Malika Benerab-Attou, MEPs (Greens/EFA).
06/02 – The European Commission held the first Stakeholder Forum of the Platform against Poverty of the new year. The full-day workshop involved around 100 stakeholders, mainly European NGOs and networks, but also representatives from social partners, think tanks, the World Bank as well as the EESC, CoR and the European Parliament.
